Taking a bit of left-turn from my normal pattern of blogging, today I have an issue with what appears to be an “s-curving” back that makes my body look like it’s literally bent out of shape.
It started as soon as I woke up and got out of bed; it’s still with me. And it comes with a nice companion: a small pain in my back, near my butt. Confused I conducted an internet search for what’s bothering me, and learned that it’s called Scoliosis.
Livestrong explains that Scoliosis…
often creates an S-shaped curve that starts in the thoracic region of the spine. Without treatment, the spinal curves caused by scoliosis may worsen, causing pain, physical disfigurement, breathing difficulty and the need for bracing or surgery. No research has shown the effectiveness of stretching to reverse scoliosis, but it can relieve pain and discomfort.
Right now, I’m in Chicago, and not even close to a gym where I can walk and stretch out the problem. So, the only thing I can think of to do is walk and stretch indoors. Well, I do have to go out in a bit. But I’ve got to admit this is a total bitch to deal with.
If you have some ideas on how to get rid of this, chime in.
Stay tuned.
