I have been reading Newsweek since 2003 and when Jon Meacham was the Editor it was at its peak. It was doing great – Newsweek was my favorite magazine, but then in 2010 changes were made and The Daily Beast took over. The Daily Beast ruined Newsweek. This is a complete opinion, but it should definitely be considered credible.
The last three issues of Newsweek that I saw were so far leaning on the left that it makes me tip over. I am on the left, but I like to read objective posts. I am a journalist and I enjoy objective journalism and reading both sides of the issue – which means I enjoyed when Karl Rove would write. I love Fareed Zakaria’s writing as well.
Now, all I see are essays that bash the Republican party and make the magazine so bias that it’s not even credible information anymore. It may as well be a blog now, and I am not a fan. Flipping through it and trying to read articles just emphasized how much negativity there is toward the right, and even though I may not be a member of the right – I can still respect the right and know that when it comes to journalism opinions and bias need to stay out of it.
Newsweek was once a great magazine, but The Daily Beast ruined it.
