NORAD Santa Tracker For Christmas Eve Santa Tracking

UPDATE: Google v BING for 2012 Santa Tracking.

This year, 2011, once again, again this blogger will be following the NORAD Santa Tracker – after tree trimming, wine drinking, and talking, and listening to Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra

But here’s the NORAD Santa Tracker Video early this year, because I just had to!

Why does NORAD track Santa? The website explains it this way:

The tradition began in 1955 after a Colorado Springs-based Sears Roebuck & Co. advertisement for children to call Santa misprinted the telephone number. Instead of reaching Santa, the phone number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief’s operations “hotline.” The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Children who called were given updates on his location, and a tradition was born.

And this year, NORAD has made a cool app for Santa Tracking. You can see Santa on your smartphone in 2011, and beyond! Visit http://www.noradsanta.org/en.

Stay tuned.
