In a turn of events that, if it wasn’t real, would look like the screenplay for a movie, four armed men jumped out of a vehicle in Santa Ines, Venezuela, and grabbed Wilson Ramos – then abandoned the vehicle. But why?
Wilson Ramos is a catcher with the Washington Nationals. The 24 year old played for only two years in Major League Baseball, and both for the Nationals.
The Nationals released this statement:
Our foremost concern is with Wilson Ramos and his family and our thoughts are with them at this time. Major League Baseball’s Department of Investigations is working with the appropriate authorities on this matter. Both Major League Baseball and the Washington Nationals have been instructed to make no further comment.” Ramos was taken from his home in the town of Valencia on Wednesday by four armed men. Venezuelan police have confirmed that the 24-year-old is still alive, but it’s not clear whether they have established a line of contact with the kidnappers.
What’s not clear is why Ramos was kidnapped at all?
This space prays for his safe return.
Stay tuned.
