Burning Man Live Stream 2011

Live broadcasting by Ustream

Well, once again, this blogger’s not at Burning Man, ad not on the playa in Black Rock Nevada. And still, even with the number of people who I know that have gone, I’ve still not attended. That may largely be a reflection of the lack of depth of those particular friendships that I’ve not been invited to go. (Hey. Just saying.) But I’ve also not made plans to more intensely join a circle of people who regularly go, so there.

As I write this, I’m about 2,100 miles away, in suburban Atlanta, Georgia. And I’m here not just to visit and help my Mom, but to finish a project called VidBlogger Atlanta. So the way my schedule worked out was such that I couldn’t have gone anyway.

Still, scenes like the one currently (Monday, 9:05 PM PST) on the USTREAM.tv live stream make me wish I could be there. The interplay of lights, night, movement, and structure is just plain beautiful.

As this is written, here’s proof that even at Burning Man, the Internet has a role and an impact – to show you what’s happening.

That’s the point I was trying to make about Burning Man and social media – of which USTREAM is a part. It’s almost impossible to entirely exclude it, and that fact will become more evident with each Burning Man as digital communications technology advances.

But I digress.

Stay tuned.
