Kaley Cuoco’s Rise Makes “Author’s Anonymous” Bankable Movie

Kaley Cuoco and Chris Klien (American Pie) star in Authors Anonymous, a movie that was originally made in and around Los Angeles in 2012, but was finished in 2013, and only recently secured the proper distribution financing and plan, after it was acquired by Screen Media and Starz Digital in January of 2014. “Life imitates art in many films but we were really drawn to Ellie Kanner’s very funny, and too true, take on the ultimate Hollywood success story,” said Suzanne Blech, president of Screen Media told The Wrap.

None of this could have happened were it not for the rise of Kaley Cuoco.

The star of The Big Bang Theory has only just hit “100” in the Google Trends, and for the first time in her career, in 2013, as the chart shows:

In fact, her rise, fueled by the TV show, and by great public relations movies like getting her on The 2013 People’s Choice Awards as a host, and dating Man Of Steel star Henry Cavill during his own personal rise, pushed her to a point where she’s surpassed Charlie Sheen in Google Trends:

In fact, at times in 2013, she dwarfed Sheen, the star of such shows as Two And A Half Men, and Anger Management.

All of that, made Authors Anonymous suddenly a movie worthy of an investment, and reading between the lines, it’s not hard to see that Cuoco was added as executive producer later in the life of the movie, and during the point where more cash was rolling in for her, and after her engagement as a spokesperson for Priceline.

On top of all of that, it’s a good story.

Authors Anonymous is about a dysfunctional group of unpublished writers. When they accept Hannah (Kaley Cuoco) into their fold, the last thing they expect is her overnight success. Can these lovable misfits achieve their artistic dreams and avoid killing one another in the process?

Authors Anonymous was directed by Ellie Kanner, written by David Congalton, produced by Hal Schwartz and Ellie Kanner. The film is from Kanner’s Forever Sunny Productions and Schwartz’s Bull Market Entertainment in association with Cynthia and Laine Guidry’s Lainie Productions.

The Executive Producers are Cynthia Guidry, Lainie Guidry, Jonathan Bennett, and Kaley Cuoco with cinematography by Tobias Datum, editing by Stephen Myers, and original music by Jeff Cardoni. The film stars Kaley Cuoco, Chris Klein, Jonathan Bennett, Dylan Walsh, Teri Polo, and Dennis Farina (who I had the pleasure of meeting while dining at 21 Club, New York) in one of his last roles.

The movie’s premier was held Tuesday, where the talk was about Cuoco’s wedding, as she was recently married, and about what she was wearing. But the media in attendance buried the lead: Author’s Anonymous marked the rise of Kaley Cuoco, the Hollywood business woman. It’s her first movie where she’s the star, and so the story is really about her effort to help cause it to see its day in the sun.

Stay tuned.
