Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, in a development shocking to some, but pleasing to this blogger, won the Ames Iowa Republican Presidential Straw Poll, beating back a field of her competitors, most notably Congressman Ron Paul.
And in other news covered here before, BART, the Bay Area Rapid Transit System, is being unfavorably compared to former Egyptian Leader Hosni Mubarak in the wake of its action to cut cell phone antenna operation Thursday night in San Francisco, rendering cell phones useless and placing BART in violation of the Communications Act of 1934. In fact, that Michelle Bachmann beat Paul signals a new, ultra-right turn for the Republican Party that can only spell victory for U.S. President Barack Obama at this juncture. She received 28 percent of the 17,000 votes cast, and according to Fox News, which stands as the media mouthpiece for the far-right, is front runner with “top-tier” status.
There’s much anticipation for Texas Governor Rick Perry, who officially entered the GOP Presidential Nomination Race Saturday. But the bet in this corner is that once the light of scrutiny shines on Perry, his stock will fall dramatically.

BART Expects Protest
BART – and I’m wondering if they’re doing this as much to fan fear as anything – says they expect another protest Monday. This corner’s more interested in what the FCC is going to do in the wake of BART’s actions of Thursday.
