Louisville beat Duke because of the awful injury to Kevin Ware.
On Saturday, Kevin Ware, the star sophomore forward for the Louisville Cardinals, said, according to CBS Sports, that it was “God’s Will,” if his team made it to the final four. In other words, if God wanted it to happen, it would happen.
God used Kevin Ware’s injury to fire up Louisville, and propel them to the Final Four in Atlanta, and did so on Easter Sunday. That’s a hard pill to swallow, but how else to explain what was a freak accident to Ware? The message is that God uses those who believe in him to send a message to others.
Sometimes the pill is hard to take.
As you can see by the video, Kevin Ware just plain fell in an awkward position after trying to block a fall-away three-point shot by Duke’s Tyler Thornton in the first half of what started out looking like an epic NCAA Tournament battle. The lead changed hands several times in the first half, with Louisville ahead for most of that time, but the best they could sustain was a five-point-gap before Duke battled back.
Then there was Ware’s injury, where what Cardinals Head Coach Rick Pitino called “six-inches of bone” sticking out of his leg. The read of that alone sounds awful. Yet, again according to Coach Pitino on CBS Sports, Ware was saying to his team “Go win!” as he was being put on the stretcher to take him to the hospital.
Later, various outlets reported that the surgery on Ware’s broken leg was successful.
God’s will?
I think so.
Stay tuned.
