Akira Takarada. Remember the name? Godzilla fans do!
Godzilla 2014 (now in production in Vancourver) and its director Gareth Edwards reach back in time to bring forward Akira Takarada, the legendary actor who’s appeared in seven Godzilla movies, including the first Godzilla in 1954, where he played the Japanese naval diver Hideto Ogata.

Now, Akira Takarada has just filmed a his cameo for Godzilla 2014. This makes the eighth time the 78-year-old actor has appeared in a Godzilla movie. Mr. Takarada was in Godzilla (1954), Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964), Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965), Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966), Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992) and Godzilla: Final Wars (2004).

In other Godzilla-related news, Toho has added Godzilla 2014 to its film listings on its website. That shows they’re taking a keen involvement in this American Godzilla, that the 1998 Godzilla didn’t have, but should have had.
