This is the promised 37-minute video of William Shatner’s visit to Comic Con 2011, to talk about his new movie, William Shatner and The Captains, with Scott Bakula, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Chris Pine. But now that the video is up, a correction: the aircraft was provided by Canada’s Bombadier, and it’s CEO, not the brazilian aircraft organization I mentioned before. That’s why video is so cool.
Also, the video should capture for everyone just how popular Shatner remains to this day and also how freaking funny both he and Kevin Smith are. Smith’s blast that Comic Con “was the only place where a dude dressed as a storm trooper can point at a dude dressed as a Klingon and yell ‘Fuckin nerd,'” was classic.
I don’t know how many videos of this event were made, but this one’s the best because it’s right up close. There was no one within a good ten feet of me making a full video of the William Shatner and The Captains press conference at Comic Con 2011.
“Success Has Eluded Me”
That statement Shatner made, that “Success has eluded me,” shocked me. But it explains why Shatner works so hard: he doesn’t feel that he’s made it. Could it be factor of spending money too fast when he got it?
Not saying there’s proof of this, but we generally associate wealth with success. It was a wide opening into what makes Bill Shatner tick.
