Social Media is valuable.
This blogger really worked hard to bring innovative coverage of Comic Con, and to the point of partnering with Tout.com, who sponsored the hotel part of the trip to San Diego. But I didn’t expect to get a year’s worth of free pretzel crisps from Pretzel Crisps!
The result of my media objective was 193 Touts over the five-day Comic Con period from last Wednesday to last Sunday. I also added 2,500 new Twitter followers over that time.
Unknown to me, one of them, Pretzel Crisps, a maker of pretzel-style flavored snacks, was following my Comic Con tout coverage via Twitter.
So, after I returned, on Monday, I got this Twitter tweet:
PretzelCrisps Pretzel Crisps®
@zennie62 We can’t get enough of your Comic Con coverage! DM office addy and we’ll dlvr snacks when you return!
I thought, “Well, that’s cool,” but really didn’t pay much attention to the tweet. Still, it was nice to be congratulated for my Comic Con coverage.
Then after more tweet exchanges, they sent a message telling me to check my front door. So, I opened it, not expecting anything as I’d not got a Fed Ex call, and boom! There they were.
A year’s worth of Pretzel Crisps in three bags, at my doorstep. Something like 30 packets in three bags! That’s 90 packets of Pretzel Crisps.
So, this shows the power of Social Media and how its increasing value in society. More and more companies are starting to understand how what people like me add to the media landscape!
Stay tuned.
