Admit it Ravens Nation, you know you love seeing Jacoby Jones do his thing in the end zone…Well now he’ll share his “Choppa City Juke” and “Cabbage Patch” with the rest of the nation.
He is taking his moves to ‘Dancing With The Stars’ (DWTS). He lobbied to go on the show during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month. It was announced on a commercial break during the Oscars Sunday night. The official announcement will be made Tuesday morning on “Good Morning America” with the entire cast of DWTS.
The show usually casts one NFL player, former contestants include former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith and former Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor.
The new season starts March 18 and Jacoby could miss a good chunk of the Ravens offseason program (depending how far he advances).
Of course this also assumes that he does not become a cap casualty. He is due a $1 million bonus from the Ravens and he is scheduled to make $3 million this season. They may try to extend his contract and restructure it to lessen the cap hit for season.
Teammate and fellow wide receiver Torrey Smith supported Jacoby by tweeting:
“Next subject…Jacoby is going to win DWTS and twitter will help #ravensnation
I have mixed feelings about Jacoby’s appearance on DWTS. First, it is a show I do not watch nor care for, but I will watch to see and support him. Second, I worry about the risk of injury. I will cross my fingers and pray that all goes smoothly.
On the flip side, Jacoby has some slick dance moves and he is likely to be a fierce competitor on DWTS and I am curious to see what he brings to the dance floor.
Good luck Jacoby… Be safe and make Ravens Nation proud!
