Atlanta, Taste Of Atlanta, Woodfire Grill, and Social Media

Facebook

Atlanta, Georgia – As regular readers of my blog know, I travel back and forth between Atlanta and Oakland. Mom is here, and much of my occupational and personal life is in Oakland. At first, I really didn’t know anyone, and being 40 miles outside the city makes it harder still to meet folks.

Fortunately my involvement in Comcast’ Atlanta Vid Blogger Nation and getting to know a number of people in Atlanta’s growing social media culture have helped.

Social media connects people. Without it, I would not have made this video or met Jessica at Max Lager’s Restaurant (320 Peachtree Stret) in 2010 – this one:

Or for that matter, met Alan LeBlanc, the eateries owner, had I not been such a passionate video-blogger.

And I would not have ran into both Alan and Jessica at Taste Of Atlanta today, which led to this Tout video:

And Social Media allowed me to meet my friend Sukhjit Ghag of Sony. She and her colleague happened to be in town, so we all met for an excellent dinner at a great restaurant called The Woodfire Grill in Buckhead, last night. Five courses of excellent creations – small portions but good to the taste. The pork loin was to die for!

And the service at Woodfire Grill, like Max’s, is excellent. But I have to say, Woodfire Grill’s people have perfected the art of the infectious smile. They do it in a way where it rubs off on you.

But the point is, Social Media has really opened up by World, and made this constant travel I do even easier to adjust to. It’s funny, I had to stop and relax to taken in the impact it’s had on my life.

Stay tuned.
