220px-NormanSchwarzkopf General Norman Schwarzkopf passed away due to unknown causes in Tampa at the age of 78. The decorated four-star general was most noted for the U.S.-led international coalition that drove Saddam Hussein’s forces out of Kuwait in 1991.

But, in retrospect to the circus that surrounded General David Petraeus’ rise to CIA Director, and the subsequent affair with Paula Broadwell that brought him down, Schwarzkopf was an American soldier who did it right.

The classic soldier is a warrior who does not seek political power – just does their job and goes home to rest. That’s what Stormin’ Norman” Schwarzkopf did. Offered the position of Chief of Staff of The Army, he turned it down, and while he made political endorsements, Schwarzkopf never ran for office.

General Schwarzkopf is the latest in this eventful last week of 2012, which saw actors Jack Klugman and Charles During pass on as recently as two days ago.
