Peter O’Toole Was A Hit, With His Camel, On David Letterman In 1995
Peter O’Toole, one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema, passed away today at the young age of 81.
Mr. O’Toole was credited for 94 roles in movie roles, but many, including this blogger, remember him most for his role as T.E. Lawrence in Lawrence Of Arabia in 1962.
In Lawrence Of Arabia, Peter O’Toole became T.E. Lawrence, the celebrated British military soldier and writer, who sought to become famous, both for uniting and liberating the Mid East and for seeking fame for himself in the process.
Lawrence Of Arabia won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, in 1962. Sadly, O’Toole passed on never having officially won an Oscar, and set the record as the most nominated actor in Academy history, but was given an honorary one in 2010:
Here’s the trailer for and two scenes from Lawrence Of Arabia:
But Peter O’Toole was also in a movie that was a personal favorite of this blogger: Supergirl, starring Helen Slater in 1984.
Peter O’Toole is a major part of the Zeitgeist and will be missed. Peter O’Toole RIP.
Stay tuned.
