angelivanlaanen Angeli VanLaanen is an olympics-level professional free skater who I met Sunday at Polo For Lyme, the great event put on by the Bay Area Lyme Foundation. What you see above is her full documentary on her personal fight against Lyme Disease.

In other words, she’s got Lyme Disease and has been fighting it while training for The Sochi Olympics 2014.

Angeli VanLaanen told Stack.com she experienced vertigo as a result of advanced, untreated Lyme disease in 2008. Ms. VanLaanen was diagnosed soon after the X Games, and withdrew from her promising ski and Olympics career to focus on staying alive.

Today at 27, VanLaanen is in remission and getting buffed up to win back her career and her life. VanLaanen is determined to represent Team USA in the SuperPipe at the Sochi Olympics in 2014.

The documentary is her story.
