Google EU Search Ruling About Democracy Over Tech Dictators The Google EU ruling where the European Union said that Google must honor take-down requests of those who apply, is a victory for democracy over tech dictators.
Already Google, a company I am a part of in a way, has expressed shock at the outcome. The idea is that Google and other search engine makers feel their idea of what information should be released must trump those of society as expressed by the court.
That is not democracy. That is a dictatorship. Tech mavens at times work under the idea that just because they created a something, people must use it as they intended and not as the people want to. The common pattern is that society always prevails. No one is bigger than the will of the people.
The moment a tech invention is made and used by many, it becomes molded by the desires of many. That is Zennie’s Rule Of Tech In Society.
Google has to adjust to that reality.
Stay tuned. http://ift.tt/1lk7Qx6
