Ike Wagh of Austin, Texas-based StoryPress, which calls itself the “Instagram of Stories”, reached out to me just a moment ago. He says:
“StoryPress is a social network built on voice-recorded stories. The cross-platform app provides the capability to create, watch, and share voice-recorded stories. Users talk about everything from life’s most significant events to everyday experiences to product testimonials. Simply record your voice, add pictures, videos and even background music. The finished product is a media-rich story, narrated by you.”
To me, StoryPress has to explain why I should use it rather than Instagram, considering that it lacks a way to make videos. Instagram allows the recording of videos, which are storytelling devices in themselves.
In addition, StoryPress has to distinguish itself from competitors PhotoVoice, Pixtori, and Picment, all of which do the same thing, but aren’t setting the World on fire. Still, there is a proliferation of apps that allow voice to be recorded with photos, so let’s see how this plays out. There was a Kickstarter campaign for StoryPress last year, and now, it’s launching.
