Mitt Romney, the former Mass. Governor and current GOP Presidential Nominee, got no poll bump from picking Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan. According to Reuters, a new poll reports that a whopping 51 percent had not changed their view of Mitt Romney.
The survey size was a small one: 508 people. But it gave a signal of what a larger poll might find: this is not a likeable GOP ticket. While 26 percent said they viewed Romney more favorably, 23 percent saw Mitt less favorably. One problem is Mitt failed to move the GOP’s reach by picking Marco Rubio, and some think Mitt avoided selecting him because he’s Latino, which would have opened up a conversation about illegal immigration.
If that’s the case, Mitt Romney deserves to fail because Paul Ryan is on video record as having a view of illegal immigration that’s not only heavily Latino-focused, it’s uses racist terms in describing what the problem may be. See my video below where he allows the use of, then uses, the term “anchor babies:”
With videos like this one, it’s easy to see why Reuters called Ryan a “polarizing figure.”
Stay tuned.
