USA 3, France 1 – Abby Wambach, Hope Solo, Women’s Soccer Win

What more can be said about the USA Women’s Soccer win over France on Wednesday? Let’s see the score, again: USA 3, France 1. Nice.

But even better was the way the team, led by Abby Wambach and Hope Solo, played with heart. Massive HEART.

When France tied the contest 1-all, it seemed the USA, down a player and outplayed by the French women to that point, had every reason to pack it in. Instead, where the French women reached lose balls faster than the American women, when the game was on the line, that was reversed.

The USA Women, as Wambach later said, “wanted it more.” And they got it.

Now, it’s USA versus Japan on Sunday, for all the marbles.

On Brandi Chastain’s Hot, Buffed Look

Women’s Soccer and Bay Area Sports Legend Brandi Chastain played center square analyst for ESPN’s telecast of the Women’s World Cup games.

On Wednesday, as has been true for much of the series, Chastain sported a set of developed biceps and an athletic upper body so cut, it looks like she trained just for the television program. It’s as if Brandi was letting us know she can still play, and look sexy doing it.

Brandi Chastain’s hot, buffed look is a welcome relief from the skinny, thin, weak female anchor style much of the World’s has been conditioned to see over time.

And while I’m gushing over Chastain, hat’s off to Hope Solo for saying that if some are watching because they’re attracted to her, great, as long as they’re watching.

Thank God for Ms. Solo’s healthy attitude among a sea of neurotic people. Since it’s OK for women to talk about a male baseball player’s butt and still enjoy his athletic talent, it’s about time for men to be able to talk about a female athlete’s sexy body and yet enjoy what she does on the field of play.

Stay tuned.
