Mike Evans is a wide receiver that’s sorely needed by the Oakland Raiders, but was passed over for Khalil Mack (great choice) and taken by the Bucs. Evans is a rare combination of size, speed, and pass-catching skill who will light up the NFL in Jeff Tedford’s new offense.

Here’s Evans:

Q. How do you feel?
MIKE EVANS: I feel great.

Q. What did the Buccaneers say to you on the phone?
EVANS: They said they’re excited that I’m coming, and that was pretty much it.

Q. How are you looking forward to playing with Vincent Jackson?
EVANS: I’m very excited. Me and him have similar games. I’m just ready to learn the art of route running.
I want to learn the offense as soon as possible and just learn what it takes to be successful in this league. I think we can do great things.

Q. Did you talk to Lovie Smith at all in detail?
EVANS: No. When he called me, I talked to him a little bit. Other than that, I haven’t.

Q. Did you have a chance to meet former Cal coach Jeff Tedford, who’s now your offensive coordinator?
EVANS: I haven’t had a chance to meet him yet.

Q. Can you talk about your experience going from high school until tonight?
EVANS: It went by quick, but I had a great coaching staff at A&M, made the transition real easy.
I was very raw coming out of high school, didn’t know what a route was. I perfected my craft. I’m looking forward to getting better, though.
It went by fast, and it’s a blessing, and I look forward to playing with the Bucs. http://ift.tt/1lpKC7N
