Rebekah Brooks Arrested In Phone Hacking Scandal

Rebekah Brooks, the now former CEO of News International and her racehorse trainer husband Charlie Brooks were arrested by detectives at their England, Oxfordshire home today.

According to The BBC, Brooks’ arrest, along with Charlie and four others, brings the total number of people nabbed in this alleged caper to 45 as of this writing. The Guardian UK reports that the arrests were made between 5 AM and 7 AM Tuesday morning.

Basically, and sadly, this is a re-arrest of Brooks, who was taken in after she stepped down from her post last year.

Rebekah Brooks was working with police involved in “Operation Weeting” – the probe of the claims that the Rupert Murdock-owned News of the World tabloid journalists were hacking into phone conversations to get news stories. Whatever happened to trigger the action, Ms. Brooks was taken in again.

Stay tuned.
