President Obama, Vice President Biden, Hit Molly Malone’s For Lunch In DC

obamaatmalonesPresident Obama and Vice President Biden are at lunch Molly Malone’s, an Irish bar and eatery in the Barrack’s Row development in Washington DC, as of this writing. This is what the White House Press Pool Report reads:

At 12:40 pm the motorcade arrived on the corner of 8th and G Streets SE. Now holding on the street, but background from a WH official:

The President and Vice President are having lunch with five active duty service members at Molly Malone’s on Barracks Row. This is an opportunity to thank these women and men for their service, and to hear directly from enlisted troops and junior officers before the President and Vice President meet with the Combatant Commanders and military leadership later in the day.

Pool was briefly ushered to the top floor of Molly Malone’s, which is an Irish-themed bar on Barrack’s Row. The president, Vice President and service members sat in a corner table, while reporters crowded behind a bar across the room. The conversation between the president and the service members was difficult to hear, although the president at one point asked a servicemember, “Where are you from originally?” The table – and especially Vice President Biden – could be heard laughing throughout the conversation.

As your pool was ushered out moments later, a radio pooler knocked a glass behind the bar to the ground, breaking it. “Put that on their tab,” the president quipped.

Pool now holding in the bottom level of the restaurant.

Stay tuned.
