What to Expect This Weekend (10/13/12 – 10/14/12):
Western Transit Center Site (Between Second and First Streets): There will be minimal maintenance work on site, Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14.
Central Transit Center Site (Between First and Fremont Streets): There will be minimal maintenance work on site, Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14.
Eastern Transit Center Site (Between Beale and Fremont Streets): There will be minimal maintenance work on site, Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14.
Weekday Work (10/15/12 – 10/19/12):

Buttress, Shoring & Excavation Work:
Western Transit Center Site (Between Second and First Streets): Excavation and trucking of soils will be performed 24 Hours, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the next day. Dump trucks will enter from the construction gate located on Howard Street (between First and Second Streets) and exit the construction gate at First Street (between Mission and Howard Streets).
Central Transit Center Site (Between First and Fremont Streets): Excavation and trucking of soils will be performed 24 Hours, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the next day. Dump trucks will enter from the construction gate located on Fremont Street (between Mission and Howard Streets) and exit the construction gate at First Street (between Mission and Howard Streets).
Eastern Transit Center Site Buttress Wall: Buttress construction activity will be performed 24 Hours, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM the next day. There will be minimal work on site nightly between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Dump trucks will enter from the construction gate located on Fremont Street (between Mission and Howard Streets) and exit the construction gate at Beale Street (between Mission and Howard Streets). This work will continue for the next several months with a scheduled completion First Quarter of 2013.
Day Shift:
Buttress, Shoring & Excavation Work:
The project excavation and trucking of soils has become a 24 hour activity with excavation down to an average depth of 60 to 65 feet. The excavation progresses from the west transit center site to the eastern end for the new Transbay Transit Center building and will continue through the end of 2014. The western zone is in progress with a target completion of mid 2013, the center site is in progress and continues until the end of 2013. The eastern site excavation and trucking of soils commences mid 2013 and continues through the end of 2014.
Western Transit Center Site Excavation Work: Excavation and trucking of soils will be performed 24 Hours, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the next day. Dump trucks will enter from the construction gate located on Howard Street (between First and Second Streets) and exit the construction gate at First Street (between Mission and Howard Streets). Welding of trestle steel and cross lot steel bracing will be performed daily.
Central Transit Center Site (Between First and Fremont Streets): Demolition of concrete structure adjacent to Fremont Street will continue this week resulting in increased noise and vibration levels nearby. Excavation and trucking of soils will be performed 24 Hours, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the next day. Dump trucks will enter from the construction gates located on Fremont Street (between Mission and Howard Streets) and exit the construction gate at First Street (between Mission and Howard Streets). Welding of trestle steel and cross lot steel bracing will be performed daily.

Mission Street (between First and Second Streets): There will be underground utilities work and traffic lane closures daily, Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM through mid-November.
Howard Street and Natoma Street (Near the intersection of First and Howard Streets): There will be an above ground control box installed on the Howard Street north sidewalk (west of the First and Howard Streets intersection) and another control box installed on the Natoma Street south sidewalk (west side of the First Street and Natoma intersection), Monday to Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Dump trucks will enter from the construction gate located on Howard Street (between First and Second Streets) and exit the construction gate at First Street (between Mission and Howard Streets). Welding of trestle steel and cross lot steel bracing may be performed Saturday, October 20 between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

Detours, Street and Sidewalk Closures:
The following streets will be temporarily impacted due to project activities. So you can plan ahead, please review the affected streets below:
Beale Street (Between Mission and Howard Streets): Buttress construction activity will be performed 24 Hours, Monday through Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM the next day. Beale Street traffic may be impacted occasionally during construction with trucks entering and exiting at the construction gates. Construction flaggers and SFPD 10B Officers will be assigned to assist with traffic and pedestrians.
Fremont Street (Between Mission and Howard Streets): The Fremont Street temporary bridge is in service. Fremont Street traffic may be impacted occasionally during construction with trucks entering and exiting at the construction gates. Construction flaggers and SFPD 10B Officers will be assigned to assist with traffic and pedestrians. Pedestrians will continue to use west sidewalk of the temporary bridge between Mission and Howard Streets. Pedestrians are urged to please use the crosswalks at the Mission and Howard Street intersection to safely cross.
First Street (Between Mission and Howard Streets): The First Street temporary bridge is in service. First Street traffic may be impacted at times during construction with trucks using the eastern traffic lane between Mission and Folsom Streets for large deliveries occasionally during the week between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. First Street traffic may be impacted occasionally during construction with trucks entering and exiting at the construction gates. Construction flaggers and SFPD 10B Officers will be assigned to assist with traffic and pedestrians. Pedestrians will continue to use west sidewalk of the temporary bridge between Mission and Howard Streets. Pedestrians are urged to please use the crosswalks at the Mission and Howard Street intersection to safely cross.
Natoma Street (Between Fremont and First Streets): Natoma Street (between Fremont and First Streets) has been reduced to one lane, one way (west bound), all vehicles will enter from Fremont Street and exit at First Street. Local vehicle and pedestrian access will remain available.
Natoma Street (Between First and Second Streets): Natoma Street (between First and Second Streets) has been changed to a dead end street for the life of the project with no vehicle access through Natoma Street from Second Street. Local vehicle and pedestrian access will remain available.
Minna Street (Between First and Second Streets): Minna Street has been reduced to one lane, one way (west bound), all vehicles will enter from First Street or Shaw Alley. There will be no parking along Minna Street between First Street and 130 feet east of Second Street for the life of the project. Local vehicle and pedestrian access will remain available.

The Transbay Archaeology Exhibit
Visit the Archaeology Exhibit at its new location, the AC Transit headquarters in Downtown Oakland, CA. The exhibit is open at AC Transit headquarters, located at 1600 Franklin Street, Oakland, CA 94612, during business hours from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The exhibit will be on display at AC Transit through October.
