New Blackberry L-Series iPhone Clone Leaked

blackberry l-series The new Blackberry L-Series SmartPhone was leaked via a demonstration at BB10 demo. According to WIRED, the person in the video was making the intro of the new product in Mexico while cameras by Hola Telcel were running.

What’s interesting about the L-Series is that it looks nothing like any other Blackberry this blogger has ever seen, and it looks very much like the Apple iPhone.

In fact, it looks enough like the Apple iPhone for it to be called an iPhone-clone in this space.

In fact, that observation should give Apple pause because it comes in the wake of the company’s latest bit of bad news: a US appeals court overturned the ban on the import of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone to the United States. (Samsung Galaxy in photo.)

According to Reuters:

Apple scored a sweeping legal victory over Samsung in August when a U.S. jury found Samsung had copied critical features of the hugely popular iPhone and iPad and awarded Apple $1.05 billion in damages….The Nexus phone was not included in that trial, but is part of a tandem case Apple filed against Samsung earlier this year.

Look carefully. The design of the Blackberry L-Series phone is hallmarked by the same app icons that appear in the front face of the iPhone. Moreover, if you compare Samsung, Blackberry, and Apple iPhone, they look strikingly simular.

But, to be clear, that was not what Apple’s original lawsuit turned on; it was on the behavior of the software. In that case, the claim was that Samsung’s products are able to search the Internet and the phone or apps memory in one query.

But the design of the Blackberry L-Series does at least cause one to point a finger in their direction and ask “What else does it do that’s like Apple’s iPhone.”

Wow.
