At the 2013 Crunchies, a woman was walking through the after party showing a conversation starting fashion piece: a purse that lights up and changes color. She said it was the product of a company called “Agent Of Presence” and that it was made by Alison Lewis and Alana Yoel.
According to PandoDaily, Ms. Lewis has a good track record of fusing fashion and tech, and to the point of being named one of Fast Company’s Top Ten Women In Tech in 2010. A bit of web digging revealed that Alana Yoel is the company’s director of technology.
The last tech fashion creation by Agent Of Presence was a dress that “lit up” 2012 SXSW. I wondered if Alison and Alana had anything to do with the stunning LED dress Carrie Underwood wore at the Grammys last night, but could not locate any reference to who made it.
The idea of a dress or purse using electronics is not new. Sarah Austin of Pop17.com interviewed Diana Eng, who made such a line of clothing, in 2011.
Stay tuned.
