Jesse Smith Gets Signatures At Peet’s Coffee In Run For Mayor Of Oakland
Jesse Smith sets virtual office for Mayor of Oakland Run. The new Peet’s Coffee on Broadway and Telegraph Avenue in Downtown Oakland at 1615 Broadway, has already become a community center.
Because of its location right smack in the middle of the central business district of Oakland, you are likely to no only see someone you know but also someone you should know. In his hunt for signatures for his run for Mayor Of Oakland, Jeese Smith could be found at Peet’s, and he wasn’t hanging out for free pastries. Smith needs at least 50 good signings to be on the ballot. The last time he and I talked about this, the Oakland Police critic had 60 standard signatures and 7 “sponsor” signatures. One of the standard signatures is mine. Simple reason: anyone who is trying to show that anyone can run for the office of Mayor of Oakland, deserves my “John Hancock”.
Considering the number of people in Oakland who complain about government, it’s weird to have only 17 people running for Mayor – and that is a record! There should be at least 100 of them.
To date, Jesse has based his campaign in one Twitter account and failed to make any public speeches or press conferences – until last night, when he went to the Oakland weed industry candidates forum, and gave a speech he tweeted about later, saying he was the only person running who didn’t talk about himself.
Well, there is nothing wrong with talking about yourself and the whole point is to talk about yourself. But Jesse is obviously gaining confidence in himself – will it be enough to increase his visibility in the Mayoral Race? Well, he has to be certified by the Oakland City Clerk, first.
Stay tuned.
