Randy Travis In Critical Condition With Viral Cardiomyopathy

Randy Travis Randy Travis, the famed country singer, is in critical condition with something called “Viral Cardiomyopathy”.

Viral Cardiomyopathy is a “virus that directly infects the heart muscle, and causes the heart to become weak,” according to Carter King, an interventional cardiologist at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, as quoted by CBS DFW in Dallas.

Kirt Webster, Mr. Travis’ publicist, said “Contrary to reports, Randy Travis has not undergone heart surgery. Travis was admitted into a Texas hospital on Sunday and underwent placement of an IMPELLA peripheral left ventricular assist device for stabilization prior to transferring hospitals. The Grammy winner remains in critical condition.”
