The San Francisco Gold Dust Lounge’s effort to remain at the space it has occupied since 1966 had morphed into a rather formidable social media effort, with Facebook pages, its website, an effective set of well-distributed YouTube videos, and an active Twitter account, with an occasional bitting wit.

Well, in the wake of the loss in its bid to be named a place with historic, landmark significance, and with the Handlery Hotels filing a lawsuit to get the Bovis Brothers to officially move the Gold Dust Lounge out of that space, the once lively social media party has stopped, for now.

This was the last Twitter tweet on April 5th:

@GoldDustLounge
Thank you to EVERYONE that turned out today. They voted against landmarking 5-2. BUT actually it was a great…

This is April 10th.

Prior to April 5th, the @GoldDustLounge Twitter account posted tweets an average of about 1.2 times a day, usually once or twice a day, then for a stretch a minimum of two times a day. There has been a down time of five whole days for this account.

Does that mean the end for the Gold Dust?

Stay tuned.
