As this blogger was heading to Time Warner Center for the final night of the Democratic National Convention, a woman passed by who had some kind of Bible verse written on her body. Upon request, she was kind enough to stop and talk for this video. But what she had to say was rather wild.
The two of us just got into conversation when the right thing to do was to get her to say her name. At any rate, the woman explained that she was at the DNC to educate people on President Obama, but not in a good way. The result was a wild and crazy and confusing video that I’m still shaking my head over. Not because I did it, but because of the things she said.
“Psalm 4.3:5. My hope is in God, not in a man. Especially not Obama.” And that’s how the talk started. Now, yes, one’s hope should be in God, but she’s using “God” as a tool to denounce anyone who she views as being liberal – an old and sad trick. She said she was at the DNC because if we Democrats vote for President Obama, America will be under tyranny and not liberty.
The definition of tyranny is:
1 : oppressive power
; especially : oppressive power exerted by government 2
a : a government in which absolute power is vested in a single ruler; especially : one characteristic of an ancient Greek city-state b : the office, authority, and administration of a tyrant
3
: a rigorous condition imposed by some outside agency or force4
: an oppressive, harsh, or unjust act
Judging by the police at the Republican National Convention, it would look more like we should fear a police state if Romney’s elected. But, moving along.
As you can see in the video, the woman basically vomits up every ultra right wing nutso view of President Obama that’s been issued over the years. Call it a “greatest hits” review. After it all, I was blessed to find Eric Casher, who knows the President better than I do, and could give a good explanation of the President’s message.
The President does believe in a woman’s right to choose.
The Woman Is Victoria Jackson
After I posted the video at YouTube, a commenter IDed her as Victoria Jackson, and my friend from Tout.com confirmed that. Ms. Jackson was once on Saturday Night Live, and from 1986 to 1992. She reportedly left the show after alienating several cast members. But during her time on it, Victoria was known for doing a handstand while reciting poetry.
Today, she’s a wife, Mom, and Grandmother, who has for some stupid reason, taken on this course of action that leaves some observers calling her “bat shit crazy.” There’s a part of me that wants to like Victoria but another part of me that finds her really scary.
Stay tuned.
