“The first two years I came here, Apple was here,” Guy says, who’s attended every MacWorld for the last seven years. Referring to then, Mr. Serle calls the arrival of Steve Jobs a “reality distortion field.” After Steve and Apple pulled out there was, he says, a kind of decline in MacWorld interest. That changed under IDG / MacWorld boss Paul Kant, who emphasized more of what other vendors were doing rather than Apple.
Guy Serle says that when Apple was involved in Mac World, they were a bit ham-handed in what they wanted out of the show, perhaps to the exclusion of other, smaller vendors – not today.
My Mac Podcast Produced On The iPhone
In an effort to lighten his load while he covered MacWorld, Guy started making his videos and content using an iPhone. “I don’t have to carry 50 pounds around,” he said. “Everything I need is right here in this bag,” he says as he holds it up.
Apple To CES
The My Mac Podcast Producer says that Apple doesn’t need to return to CES because when they make a product announcement all the press comes to them. I disagree with this because in today’s world, media is not press-driven, it’s people driven, and all of the positive tweets and messages about Samsung’s new offerings at CES pushed the brand to tops in social media at CES, and for the week even beyond CES.
Apple must return to CES.
