There’s a lot of talk that Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett “iced” his kicker Dan Bailey in Sunday’s game at the Arizona Cardinals, a game the Cards won in overtime. Let’s face it: Coach Garrett made a mistake in calling for a time-out while his kicker was in the process of making what would have been a 49-yard field goal, thus wiping out the score. But the fact is, Bailey should have made that kick the second time around.
As a coach, you want a kicker who can bail you out of trouble and that’s exactly what the Cowboys kicker did not do. Normally this blogger blames the coach for a loss, and Garrett still deserves some measure of it, but the fact is, as they as, playmakers make plays.
Dan Bailey did not make the play. He did not save his team.
