The latest news in the Bobby Petrino / Jessica Dorell Sex Scandal, which, if you’re not familiar with, you can learn about via the video below…
…now reportedly, according to the Associated Press via ESPN, has the Arkansas State Police asking questions about the role of Police Captain Officer Lance King in Sunday’s events.
What’s now reported by ESPN / AP is that Officer King met Petrino at an intersection after the crash. They say it was King, and not Petrino himself, who drove the coach to the hospital. But what was on the police report was this:
POST CRASH ACTIVITIES: OPERATOR PETRINO (V-1) AND PASSENGER DORRELL WERE NOT PRESENT AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE WHEN I ARRIVED.
But guess what? That was written not by Officer King, but by Officer John A. Arnold, Badge #409.
The police report reads:
POST CRASH ACTIVITIES: OPERATOR PETRINO (V-1) AND PASSENGER DORRELL WERE NOT PRESENT AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE WHEN I ARRIVED. EMS WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. OPERATOR PETRINO (V-1) AND PASSENGER DORRELL WERE TRANSPORTED FROM THE COLLISION SCENE TO THE INTERSECTION OF EAST HUNTSVILLE ROAD AND CROSSOVER ROAD IN FAYETTEVILLE BY BENJAMIN ADAM WILLIAMS , JODY DIANE STEWART, AND WILLIAMS’ 12 YEAR OLD SON, BENJAMIN WILLIAMS. THESE THREE RESIDE AT 817 NORTH 3RD STREET, OZARK, AR 72946. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF EAST HUNTSVILLE ROAD AND CROSSOVER ROAD IN FAYETTEVILLE, PASSENGER DORRELL DEPARTED IN HER PERSONEL VEHICLE. OPERATOR OF (V-1) PETRINO WAS TRANSPORTED TO PHYSICIAN SPECIALTY HOSPITAL BY ASP CAPTAIN LANCE KING IN HIS ASP VEHICLE.
So the way the police report reads is such that Officer Arnold met Petrino and Dorell and Officer King at the intersection of of Huntsville and Crossover roads, and then Officer King took Petrino to the hospital.
So it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that it was King who was contacted by Arnold on the way to the intersection of Huntsville and Crossover roads, and not the accident scene. The AP says that “Authorities say they want to know how State Police Captain Lance King wound up meeting Petrino after the crash at an intersection in Fayetteville. King, who provides security for the coach during the season, then drove Petrino to a hospital.”
Really?
What’s apparent from reading the police report is that between the time it appeared on Thursday, and the Sunday when the accident happened, Petrino had enough time to make up his own story. Trouble is, he didn’t have to. If he told a story that matched the truth, the police report written by Arnold would not have put Officer King’s actions into question. It doesn’t seem like Officer King did anything wrong.
Stay tuned.
