Lindsay Vonn, the famed Olympic Skier most recently linked to Tiger Woods when she’s not showing her legs to David Letterman, has a real crisis just two weeks after that news broke: she’s severely injured her knee and placed her Olympics hopes in jeopardy.
According to a number of reports, Vonn “sustained tears to the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligament in her right knee in a crash during the world championships in Schladming, Austria,” As a result, Lindsay Vonn’s expected to see surgery, and her planned 2014 Olympic bid in Sochi, Russia doesn’t look achievable.
This is really sad news for Lindsay, who, over the past four months, has battled reported bouts with depression, finalized her divorce from Thomas Vonn, won the Super G, and was on pace to conquer another racing challenge when this happened.
What happened was Vonn took the turn with narrow feet, jumped, failed to recover, and lost her balance. The resulting tumble, as one can see, was damaging – in more ways than one.
Vonn had to be airlifted to a local hospital and her teams’s medical director Kyle Wilkens said she fractured her shinbone.
This blogger has a feeling Vonn will come back stronger than ever.
Stay tuned.
