Libby Schaaf is Oakland Mayor Elect and the first white woman to be elected Mayor of Oakland.

Libby started with what seemed to be a shaky 29 percent of the total first place votes, but then when the Rank Choice Voting numbers came out, her lead was pushed to 62 percent. That is a lead so large that it’s insurmountable. And that is even with the subsequent passes yet to come.

Libby is Oakland’s Mayor. It’s not an April Fool’s Joke.

In 2010, I blogged that she was going to run for Mayor Of Oakland as an April Fools’ joke that was so effective local political consultant Larry Tramutola told me it’s scared the hell out of him.

I wrote that Libby would draw on her vast network of friends to gain supporters. I wrote that she would take votes away from the other candidates. Well that was then but now is the reality of 2014 and it makes what I wrote then look prophetic.
