Transbay Transit Center SF Had First Of Its Kind LGBT Business Outreach

The Transbay Transit Center held a first-of-its-kind outreach event on Thursday of last week, when it invited LGBT-ran business representatives to a mixer at its headquarters in San Francisco.

Generally, an large public works organization like the Transbay Transit Center will have women and minority-focused events to make sure firms ran by women and minorities are aware of opportunities to bid for and to work on projects associated with it. But this is the first time in history that any government organization has worked to include the LGBT community.

The agenda included:

– Getting your business certified
– Information on preparing your statement of qualifications
– Schedule for upcoming contract opportunities
– Meeting large contractors to team up for upcoming contract opportunities

The Transbay Transit Center Project is a visionary transportation and housing project that will transform downtown San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Area’s regional transportation system by creating a “Grand Central Station of the West” in the heart of a new transit-friendly neighborhood.

The $4 billion project will replace the old Transbay Terminal at First and Mission streets in San Francisco with a modern regional transit hub connecting eight Bay Area counties and the State of California through 11 transit systems: AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, Greyhound, Muni, SamTrans, WestCAT Lynx, Amtrak, Paratransit and future High Speed Rail from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim.
