Academy To Celebrate James Bond’s 50th Birthday At The Oscars

Skyfall-JamesBond_2377965b James Bond will get an Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, sort of.

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Oscars producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have announced that the presentation ceremony will have a celebration of the 50th Birthday of James Bond.

“We are very happy to include a special sequence on our show saluting the Bond films on their 50th birthday,” said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “Starting with ‘Dr. No’ back in 1962, the 007 movies have become the longest-running motion picture franchise in history and a beloved global phenomenon.”

That celebration could turn into a James Bond night if Skyfall is nominated for and wins Oscar Best Picture. The chance of that happening took a great step toward reality as The Producers Guild Of America selected Skyfall as a Best Picture Nominee.

Skyfall’s one of the few movies to get both critical recognition and box office glory, as it is the all-time highest grossing movie in UK history. Additionally, Skyfall could be nominated for Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actor, Best Song, and Special Effects at the 85th Academy Awards.

We will find out on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 5:30 a.m when the Oscar Nominations are announced.
