President Obama Honors Led Zeppelin, David Letterman, At Kennedy Center Honors

President Barack Obama is the coolest leader in the history of the World. Proof: President Obama touched the very heart of industrial pop culture when he announced the following for the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors: Buddy Guy, Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman, Natalia Makarova, and Led Zeppelin.

But in fairness to President Obama, the selection of these great artists to be, well, knighted, wasn’t his alone by any stretch. It came after recommendations from past recipients, and more specifically Alan Alda, Joshua Bell, Stephen Colbert, Renée Fleming, Kris Kristofferson, Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald, Mark Morris, Lionel Richie, Frederica von Stade, Edward Albee, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Kirk Douglas, Angela Lansbury, Meryl Streep, Barbra Streisand, and Oprah Winfrey.

But, as many times as he’s appeared on David Letterman, you’ve got to believe he was Obama’s pick!

At any rate, here’s President Obama:

And here’s Obama’s remarks on Led Zeppelin:

In this video, the President jokes about David Letterman:

And here’s a terribly done (because the producer doesn’t talk into the camcorder and give us any background of what’s happening) but useful video blog from the Kennedy Center Honors Red Carpet:

Stay tuned.
