Oakland News: Phil Tagami Gives Oakland Army Base Update

In this quick Oakland News, Phil Tagami, Managing Partner of California Capital Group, posted this update on the California Capital Group OaklandGlobal / Oakland Army Base project on his Facebook personal page (he needs another one for the project) just 12 minutes ago:

The Oakland Army base project has been under way for 209 days.
It has a 20 year development window and a 66 year life.
The initial phase of infrastructure has a 5 year duration.

The project is meeting and exceeding requirements.

How many jobs have been created?

On October 21, 2014 CCIG issued a Notice to Proceed with infrastructure construction on the Oakland Army Base (OAB). Since then, a total of 425 jobs have been created on the OAB infrastructure construction project, which is in the first year of a 5 year project. More jobs will be created in the coming years.

Of that number, what has CCIG as the developer, done to make sure that Oakland residents get jobs on the army base?

CCIG and the City of Oakland worked with organized labor and community stakeholders over a 3 year period involving over 250 public hearings, community workshops, and planning meetings, to prioritize local hire through the following policies which are incorporated into the OAB development agreement OAB Construction Jobs Policy for Horizontal Improvements
• OAB Construction Jobs Policy for Vertical Improvements
• OAB West Gateway Operations Jobs Policy
• OAB East and Central Gateways Operations Jobs Policies
• City of L/SLBE Program

Since the signing of the development agreement and construction commencement, CCIG has and continues to implement and enforce these policies for all contractors performing work on the project, and continues to meet regularly with WOJRC and City of Oakland Contract Compliance staff.

With the West Oakland Job and Resource Center (WOJRC), how does CCIG plan to utilize the center to hire more Oakland residents in the future?
In compliance with the OAB Jobs Policies, CCIG utilizes the West Oakland Job Resource Center to identify and employ Oakland residents. CCIG and other members of the OAB compliance team meet with WOJRC staff on a weekly and monthly basis to coordinate the hiring needs of the OAB contractors with the outreach events and resources available at the job center.
