Governor Jerry Brown said: “Mike Honda has dedicated his career to tackling difficult issues and doing what’s right for working people. After leading the local effort to bring BART to San Jose, Mike got $900 million in federal funding for the project creating 10,000 jobs for the Silicon Valley. Mike is an effective advocate in Congress for his district and all of California — I’m proud to support him.”
In addition to his critical work securing funding for the BART extension to San Jose, Congressman Honda has brought over $1B in federal investment back to his district, including nearly a million to help local hospitals upgrade their mammography equipment.
Brown joins President Barack Obama, the California Democratic Party, California Attorney General Kamala Harris, and over 100 local leaders in endorsing Congressman Honda over his conservative opponent, Ro Khanna.
“I’m humbled to have the support of Governor Jerry Brown in my reelection campaign. His popularity in my district and across the state reflects the impressive comeback California has made under his strong leadership. As a Member of the Appropriations Committee I look forward to continuing our work to make important investments in our state and communities,” said Congressman Honda.
Congressman Honda’s opponent, Ro Khanna, has come under fire from Democrats for his close association with former Republican Congressman Ernie Konnyu and right-ward shift since losing the June Primary by 20 points despite outspending Congressman Honda more than 3:1.
