Government Shutdown: Alabama Gov Workers Suffer; Congress Gets Paid

Got a call from my stepfather’s brother who reports that government workers in and around Montgomery, Alabama are upset that they’re going without their paychecks, and are wondering when the Government Shutdown will end. “We have two military bases here, so there’s a lot of people who want to know when this is going to be over,” he said. While soldiers are taken care of, non-military personnel are not.

While government workers in Alabama are living paycheck-to-paycheck, and worried that the Government Shutdown might be just long-enough to push them over the brink and into housing debt, Congress is collecting its pay, and House GOP members reportedly showed up at Congress last night with booze on their breath.

Stay tuned.
