NFL Draft 2014 Mock Draft: Clowney, Texans; Manziel, Bucs; Bridgewater, Jags

NFL-Draft-logo1The NFL Draft 2014 is one week away and with that will come a flurry of mock drafts from Zennie62.com. This latest one considers what would happen if Jadeveon Clowney were the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, and to the Houston Texans (and its worded that way because of rumors that the Texans want to trade down).

In this scenario, we have the Texans pick of Clowney forcing Johnny Manziel down past the St. Louis Rams (who are committed to Sam Bradford and would see it reasonable to continue to improve the offensive line with the addition of Texas A&M’s Jake Matthews) falling past the Browns, who can circle back and get a QB later in the 1st round, and falling past the Raiders and the Falcons, and right into the waiting arms of Lovie Smith, Jeff Tedford, and the staff at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But perhaps the most surprising move has Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater going to the Jacksonville Jaguars as the 3rd pick. The reason is based on the fact that the Jags have visited with and talked to him so many times this year, you’d have to be smoking something to think they weren’t interested in him. Plus, Teddy’s a plug-and-play QB and a quick study, who’s knowledge of offensive systems and terminology with without peer in this NFL Draft class.

But beyond Bridgewater to Jacksonville, the one sure lock on everyone’s boards is that the Oakland Raiders will take Khalil Mack. If that happens, his coming to the Raiders will mark a major development in the total overhaul of Oakland’s Defense. Mack combined with Justin Tuck and Lamar Woodley immediately gives the Oakland Raiders a scary-looking defense. If they don’t perform at playoff level in 2014, it will be due to coaching. But I digress.
