GO GIANTS!
The World Series was a total blast to attend at AT&T Park, but after reflection this blogger has the impression that the San Francisco Giants fans act like they expect to win the World Series.

Sure, many were surprised that Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander just plain choked last night, and got shelled for a record three home runs by Pablo Sandoval, but the fans acted like they were just watching the game.

There was no between action crowd-generated excitement. It wasn’t like attending the Oakland A’s playoff games, where people used any reason to ignite spontaneous cheers. At AT&T Park, high fives were not totally spontaneous – in my video, I had to ask for people to high five me. In Oakland, the fans just got in your face.

Maybe the higher ticket prices brought in the wine-sipping fans and crowded out the beer drinkers? Perhaps it’s an older crowd – it did seem like it. Whatever the case, the crowd, at times, needed a cattle prod to get them going – or a home run or three.

This is the WORLD SERIES! What’s up?

See?

Maybe the SF Giants should lose? Nah. I am not sure that would make a big difference. But I can say there’s little real excitement about this World Series, and it’s not only reflected in the record low ratings, it’s obvious by the lack of enthusiasm by the San Francisco crowd.

Stay tuned.
