Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise a week ago. The famed star of Rock Of Ages had his own world rocked, and head spun around – but when it stopped, Cruise took a look at the situation, and now is planning to file a counter divorce suit. Here’s my vlog take on the initial action of Katie trying to split from Tom:

The BBC reports that Tom Cruise’s lawyer Bert Fields said “Tactically we can’t say where Tom will file a divorce case and if he’ll be seeking joint custody of Suri.” And Tom continues to be “very sad” about the situation he obviously didn’t see coming. Fields said “We are letting ‘the other side’ (Katie and her team), play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say. It’s not Tom’s style to do this publicly. He is really sad about what’s happening.”

Extra TV reports that Katie Holmes is doing “alright” and is ready for a “new phase” in her life. But in reading the account, which has a number of quotes, either Katie Holmes never loved Tom Cruise, or stopped loving him, or her comments are being taken out of context. For example, this she said to Elle Magazine: “I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. I’m starting to come into my own. It’s like a new phase.”

Or.

“He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”

So for five years she didn’t know who she was – and that person who didn’t know who she was was the one in love with Tom Cruise, not this new version of Katie Holmes.

The Tom Cruise Pattern

Tom Cruise needs to hook up with a strong woman who’s not an actress. All of his failed marriages have been with actresses – not one with a woman who’s not in the industry, and therefore not looking for him to help improve her image or status and land better roles. There are more and more Hollywood power women running studios – Tom should stick to that kind of woman. Women entrepreneurs know who they are, and thus are less likely to be flaky in a relationship. Being an actor has a built-in insecurity factor that seems to leave one feeling constantly less-than. I think that’s what Katie Holmes was feeling.

Just saying.
