Alexandre-Desplat
Alexandre Desplat (Bmi)
Alexandre Desplat, the composer for the Legendary Pictures Production of Godzilla commonly called “Godzilla 2014,” told The Daily Beast‘s Senior Writer Andrew Romano that the music for the much-anticipated Summer blockbuster will be “nonstop fortissimo.”

Now, the definition of “fortissimo” is a musical term indicating that a piece is played very loud. Thus, we have to believe that “nonstop fortissimo” means loud music throughout the movie. Just the thing for a roller coaster ride.

The entire quote has Desplat saying the following, according to Andrew Romano:

“The monster movies, I’ve never been really into that. But when I saw Gareth Edwards’s first film, Monsters, I was hooked. It was very character-driven. So yes, Godzilla is another story than Philomena, because it’s nonstop fortissimo, with lots of brass, Japanese drums, and electric violin. But I still try to find the soul the film.”

For those of you who are just seeing the name Alexandre Desplat for the first time, the 52-year-old 18-time Oscars, BAFTA, and Golden Globes nominated French composer has been really busy. Desplat is noted for his work on Zero Dark Thirty, The King’s Speech, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and the two Harry Potter movies. He’s scored Philomena, Monuments Men, and The Grand Budapest Hotel and is working on Godzilla.
