David Freese
After looking like they were dead, two World Series Games down to the Texas Rangers, the St. Louis Cardinals came back to win World Series Game 7 in somewhat less dramatic fashion, 5 to 2. After trailing 2 to zip, the Cards tied the contest, then pulled ahead to win.

Now, as the Dallas Morning News reports, the Rangers are 51 title-less years, and counting. But that’s wrong.

The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series, yes. And David Freese is the World Series MVP, true. But for the second straight year, Texas Rangers Manager Ron Washington has steered his organization to an American League penant. The Texas Rangers can at least say “The World Series goes through Arlington, Texas,” and they would be correct.

The question should be, “Will the Rangers repeat as American League penant winners for the third straight year?”

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Cardinals and Manager Tony La Russa are enjoying the glory that comes not just with winning the World Series, but doing so after being down by two games.

MVP David Freese took his training from legend Mark McGuire, watched slugger Albert Pujols, and batted .348 for the entire series, got one home run, seven RBIs, and three doubles.

Great for the Cards, who get their 11th World Series Championship. But this blogger has a feeling the Texas Rangers will be back in 2012.

Just a feeling.

Stay tuned.
