Miss Utah Marissa Powell was just on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and for someone who experienced her first “solo” act as a guest next to a big TV star, the woman who was made famous just two days ago at the Miss USA Pageant for this…

marrissapowell was given a second and more, shall we say, honest shot at celebrity, when Jimmy Kimmel playfully needled Ms. Powell about her answer, and then gave her a chance to sing.

Check her out:

Part II: Powell Singing

I’m here to tell you America’s found a new star, folks.

I’m personally very impressed with how well Marissa Powell presented herself in her media swings on Tuesday, starting with Inside Edition and then the TODAY Show, and then Jimmy Kimmel Live

And in fairness to Erin Brady, the winner of Miss USA, she should not worry about Marissa Powell going beyond her in celebrity, as of this writing, because Ms Brady’s Google Search Intensity Ranking is higher than that for Marissa Powell’s by 100 for Ms. Brady to 28 for Marissa Powell when compared to the new Miss USA.

Here’s the chart:

As you can see, Miss USA has the more intense search ranking. Why? Well, because she’s crowned Miss USA, Erin Brady has more publications blogging and writing and presenting photos and video and tweets about her, overall, than does Ms. Powell.

So, when someone searches for Miss USA, they find Ms. Brady. That leads to this trend chart:

Although it must be noted that “Erin Brady” is also the wife of singer Steve Tyler, so that tends to push the search number a bit higher for her name. If we add “Erin Brady Miss USA” we get a chart where “Marissa Powell” and “Erin Brady Miss USA” have equal search intensity at 5, versus “Miss USA” and “Erin Brady,” which are at 100 and 19 respectively:

As to why I’m doing this, regular readers of my blog know that I’m fascinated with creating celebrity in the social media space – how it works and what methods to use. Marissa Powell is the latest case of what I call “accidental celebrity” and in her case, she’s handled it all well.

The question is how long can it last?

Well, Marissa Powell’s celebrity is vastly different from that of, say, Carolyn Moos, the woman who was notable for having lived with Jason Collins, the first active player in sports to come out as gay, for eight years. In my analysis, Ms. Moos brief Google A-list celebrity was entirely tied to Ms. Collins announcement, and then it faded in a week.

Notice:

By contrast, Marissa Powell’s celebrity is based on an incident on a national stage of her own doing, and because of that will be talked about for years to come. Marissa Powell’s taken the stage God gave her and has handled it so well, that I predict she’s going to stay at at least B-level for the next year without doing any other appearances.

Now the wild card rests with what she does from here on out. I’m sure she’s going to get more and more offers to appear on shows and if she gets a sit-com role, then she’s going to hit A-list and stay there.

Stay tuned.
