Danielle Harris, who most recently blew a gasket about some drunk Texas passengers in a flight, is back in the role she’s famous for on Zennie62: ‘Marybeth’ the heroic queen of Adam Green’s HATCHET I And HATCHET II. And how this blogger learned of the news wasn’t by press release, but via Harris’ own Twitter account, where she once again fired off a tweet that got my attention:

Ms. Harris was Twitter tweeting that HATCHET III is in production in Louisiana. Here’s some more of her choice tweets:

Who’s Victor Crowley?

Now, as a HATCHET fan, I can’t remember a time when Danielle Harris was so aggressive toward Victor Crowley on Twitter. But then you’re probably wondering who Victor Crowley is.

In HATCHET Movie lore, Victor Crowley was the deformed son of man who lived in the swamps outside New Orleans. His father kept him hidden away from the public to avoid verbal and physical abuse. But on Halloween, some kids chased Victor into his house and set it on fire by throwing firecrackers at it. In an effort to save him, Victor’s father went and used an axe to chop the door down, not knowing his son, trying to escape the flames, had his head pressed up against it, presumably killing him. It’s a real sad story, and anyone with a degree of empathy would feel for Victor.

A a few years later, Victor’s father passes away after dealing with feelings of remorse and guilt, but apparently Victor did not die. He became a combination of an angry ghost and a ghastly giant deformed swamp man, who kills anyone that comes close to his house.

That’s the basic story.

What fans of HATCHET like is it’s over-the-top bloody, gory kill scenes, and the inventive ways Victor does away with his prey. HATCHET II ends with Victor holding Marybeth, which is presumably where HATCHET III picks up.

Where HATCHET II had Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Danielle Harris as Marybeth, and Tom Holland, R.A. Mihailoff, and AJ Bowen, HATCHET III returns just Hodder and Harris, with a whole new cast. Leading the band is Gremlins star Zach Galligan, Cody Blue Snider (the son of Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider), and Rileah Vanderbilt. Working on the music will be Bear McCreary, from Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Adam Green writes and produces HATCHET III, but doesn’t direct it; that task is left to first-time director B.J. McDonnell, who worked behind the camera on the first two films.

HATCHET II At Comic Con 2010

HATCHET II was the focus of one of the most fun experiences I’ve had at Comic Con. Excellent publicist Daniela Sapkar had the genius idea of inviting this video-blogger to join the cast of HATCHET II in a limo ride down to their meetings at Comic Con 2010. The result was a fun set of videos:

In total, those and other Hatchet II videos at Zennie62 on YouTube have been seen 55,111 times, and counting, since 2010, or about 82 times a day, or 3.45 times an hour.

Stay tuned.
