There’s something a bit, well, ‘off’ about New England Patriots Wide Receiver Chad Ochocinco. Or maybe he’s just got a flair for edgy PR? Or maybe he likes…

Well, whatever the case, the man who could have been a bigger player in the New England Patriots Offense, is a huge player on Twitter, with followers like USA Women’s Soccer Star and Cal-Berkeley Grad Alex Morgan. So much so that it’s puzzling Chad elected to use a photo of a dick – a penis – as his Twitter avatar over here at @ochocinco.

Seriously.

What’s more, the photo’s obviously not of him; it’s from some white guy, and generating some reactions on Twitter, as you might guess:

Chanty De La Uz
@chantydelauzzz Chanty De La Uz
Good Morning @ochocinco nice avi. You almost had me fooled but obviously that wouldn’t be yours!

And so on.

It reminds this blogger of the time Chad Ochocinco, then Chad Johnson and with the Cincinnati Bengals, ran through the city’s parkland in, well, totally nothing. Zip. Don’t believe it, see my video commentary:

Why the decision to do this? Maybe it has something to do with this news story:

CINCINNATI -Just hours after playing in the Super Bowl, New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in Cincinnati. A judge has fined him $200 and ordered him to pay $104 in court costs.

Which really reads like a BS thing to happen to anyone, but then Chad should know that he’s a public figure, black, and in an area of the country not known for race-relations trend-setting.

But I digress.

Does Twitter allow such avatars? Is that within the Twitter terms of service?

Stay tuned.
