The number one Google Trend search term is “daylight savings time 2011” and for the second consecutive day. The only explanation for this is many think today is the day that clocks are to be set back – as in “spring forward, fall back” – when it’s Sunday, November 6th that’s the day – in America.
But not in the European Union. For the EU, Daylight Savings Time 2011 is today.
Why the confusion? Well, the regional difference is one reason for the search activity. It’s a fair bet many don’t know when DST is.
But it could be because some people have a lot of clocks to reset.
Take the case of Pauline West in the UK.
According to The Daily Mail, Ms. West is faced with the task of having to change over 4,000 clocks, all “crammed into her flat,” as the news website reported. She started doing it three days ago, and to a collection of timekeepers that she started gathering 24 years ago, and is worth about $31,000.
That’s a lot of clocks, but to reset all of them? That’s crazy. It’s not as if she looks at every single one of them!
